Welcome to the Blog . . .

Today the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced the first newly ordained prophet/president in thirteen years . . . Today seems as good as any to start a blog of my own to post my thoughts and questions concerning the doctrines of a church that is entering a new era. Enjoy Reading

First Post 2-4-08

I have browsed enough blogs to realize that there are many blogs out there that are not really read at all, I have no false imaginations that this will be a place that is frequented by anyone other than myself. I have started this blog as a place to write my own thoughts and feelings on the gospel as often as time will permit.

I have set a goal to read the entire 26 volumes of the Journal of Discourses within the next two to three years. At 1/2 to 1 volume a month I can easily accomplish this in the alloted amount of time.

As I have been reading the first volume of this series I have been amazed by the spirit and power contained in the discourses of our early church leaders. Each sermon was delivered without any notes or preparation, these men truly taught "by the spirit".

Among others things, I will use this blog as a place to post some of the teachings and sayings that inspire me the most as I read this large collection of discourses.

If you stumble onto this blog, I hope that some of the items posted will inspire you as much as they have me.
